Bibliography of Polish Medieval Studies

Aim:

To gather bibliographical data about the publications of Polish medievalists of various specialisations in order to add information on relevant Polish research to the International Medieval Bibliography.

Description:

The International Medieval Bibliography is an indispensable professional tool and a source of information about research published in Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Asia-Pacific region for scholars and students of the Middle Ages. The bibliography is available on the Brepolis.net website, to which the largest academic libraries subscribe. Apart from the history of the Middle Ages in the traditional sense, it also encompasses medieval archaeology, the history of art, philosophy, theology, musicology, theatre studies, Medieval Latin studies and vernacular languages and literature. The bibliography contains over 546 000 entries, complete with data on time, subject, location and other relevant information.

The bibliography lists monographs and periodicals. Bibliographical notes are complete with English translations of the original title and indexed relevant terminology, which enables a key-word search. The IMB is managed by the University of Leeds (UK) in close collaboration with the Center for Advanced Studies in Medieval Civilization in Poitiers (France).

So far, Polish research has been underrepresented and unsystematic in this most relevant medieval bibliography. The work of the Centre for Medieval Studies team will continuously and, as far as possible, retrospectively fill this gap by completing information on the work of Polish medievalists. The Polish collaborators will work in an international team comprising medievalists from twenty countries within and beyond Europe, including Japan and Argentina. It is an exceptional opportunity to promote Polish research on a global scale.
